A Layered Journey of Light and Shadow
This piece is a dance of depth and emotion, where layers of encaustic wax, pigment, and embedded textures form a surface that feels both ancient and alive. Ethereal and tactile, the interplay of colors—deep indigos, soft neutrals, and gilded accents—creates an atmosphere of quiet reflection. Through the misted layers, ghostly typography and subtle imagery emerge, like whispers from the universe reminding us to hold on, to trust, to believe.
Symbols of Strength and Spirituality
Scattered throughout the composition are symbols of protection, wisdom, and faith. Subtle elements and iconograhy nod to the idea of divine guidance, while timeworn textures and delicate metallics suggest the alchemy of transformation. A variety of imagery enhances Believe including the Statue of Liberty, reflection from Westlake Plaza (Seattle), and the Parthenon in Athens. A pair of eyes catches your gaze, while the drowning hand reminds you don’t give up. Special Care for Encaustic Artwork... Encaustic artwork is created with a combination of beeswax (note for those who are allergic) and damar resin. This art form has existed for centuries, but because of the natural properties of the wax it does require to be displayed out of direct sunlight in a temperature controlled environment.
