Sleeping Giants – A Quiet Reverence for the Ancient Sentinels of the Pacific Northwest
Somewhere between earth and sky, where the wind hums hymns through towering trunks, the Sleeping Giants stand watch. These trees, weathered yet unwavering, stretch toward the heavens in a cathedral of light and shadow. This piece captures a fleeting moment of reverence—misty morning air tangled in the branches, the hush of the forest only broken by the whisper of distant waves. Each step through this woodland felt like an invitation to listen, to breathe, to remember that nature does not rush, yet everything is accomplished.
This image was taken along the hike to the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse, where the Pacific crashes against the rugged cliffs of Washington’s southernmost coastline. There, in the company of giants, time slows, and the weight of the world dissolves into the scent of damp cedar and salt.
FOTO Series Process & Materials
The FOTO series transforms personal photographic memories into deeply textured, tactile mixed media works, encased in layers of resin, pigment, and sculptural elements. The surface captures light much like memory itself—some details sharp and clear, others softened by the passage of time. The rough, hand ftextured frame is a nod to the raw, untamed landscapes it seeks to honor.
This piece embodies the stillness and resilience of the Pacific Northwest, an ode to the towering souls that have stood for centuries, silent witnesses to the passing of time.
