HERE is part of my Words series, where each artwork centers around a single word, prominently displayed using Scrabble tiles on the canvas. This piece delves into the concept of presence and self discovery, inviting viewers to reflect on their personal journey to find their unique "here."

The background boasts rich textures and colors, layered with upcycled corrugate adorned with a vintage map, all sealed with a crackle finish to evoke a sense of history and exploration. Incorporated into the composition are various found objects, including a fleur de lys, a metal shank piece, and a miniature compass, symbolizing guidance and the quest for one's place in the world.

This canvas rests upon an encaustic collage featuring an array of ephemera: vintage imagery, map themed papers, a punch card, and a Tokyo Metro listing, among others. All elements are housed within a hand painted wooden frame with a subtle metallic finish, enhancing the artwork's depth and inviting viewers to embark on their own journey of self discovery.

Special Care for Encaustic Artwork... Encaustic artwork is created with a combination of beeswax (note for those who are allergic) and damar resin. This art form has existed for centuries, but because of the natural properties of the wax it does require to be displayed out of direct sunlight in a temperature controlled environment.
