Stars and Ballerinas is a captivating mixed media fusion piece that weaves together dreams, memories, and found objects into a harmonious tapestry of art. The textured canvas serves as the foundation, layered with ephemera and adorned with both discovered and handcrafted elements.
The canvas showcases a rich palette of earth tones, with exposed printed paper and vintage sewing patterns peeking through, adding depth and history to the composition. A vintage barnyard star shines brightly in the upper right corner, casting its guiding light over a meticulously arranged collage of found objects. This assemblage includes a vintage right angle, a coiled spring, an antique key, a drawer pull, a sewing machine foot, and a delicate capsule containing watch parts, each element contributing its own story to the narrative.
Beneath this textured canvas lies an encaustic collage teeming with diverse imagery. Dancing ballerinas pirouette gracefully in the upper left, accompanied by fragments of maps, crossword puzzles, and vintage printed papers, all sealed under a lustrous layer of encaustic wax. This wax not only preserves the images but also imparts a dreamlike quality, blurring the lines between past and present.
Encasing this intricate composition is a hand-painted wooden frame, finished in a rich brown hue with metallic accents that complement the artwork's earthy palette. The frame not only enhances the visual appeal but also provides a cohesive boundary that unifies the diverse elements within.

Special Care for Encaustic Artwork... Encaustic artwork is created with a combination of beeswax (note for those who are allergic) and damar resin. This art form has existed for centuries, but because of the natural properties of the wax it does require to be displayed out of direct sunlight in a temperature controlled environment.
